The Clerk of Court performs duties in support of the Supreme Court’s constitutional responsibilities. The Clerk is appointed by the Court pursuant to Article VI, Section 9 of the New Mexico Constitution and serves at the pleasure of the Court. There have only been eight Clerks of Court since statehood. The current Chief Clerk of Court is Elizabeth E. Garcia. Lysette Romero Córdova is the Chief Deputy Clerk of Court. They supervise a staff of eight Court employees who provide case management, adjudicative, and administrative support to the Court and to the bench, bar, and public that it serves.

The Clerk of Court serves as the Court’s records custodian and all public information requests are processed by the Clerk’s Office. The Clerk’s Office also assists the Court with processing and disposition of rule change requests, provides staff support to the Court’s rulemaking committees, publishes monthly certiorari tables and monthly case reports to the website, and assists the Court with attorney admissions and regulation.
