New admittees are required to sign the Roll of Attorneys and take the oath of attorneys before they may begin practicing law in New Mexico. The Roll of Attorneys contains the signature of attorneys admitted in New Mexico dating back to territorial days .
The Supreme Court holds two large group ceremonies during the year to admit new attorneys in the spring and fall. A person unable to appear before the Court on those days must contact the Clerk of Court to schedule an individual appointment. The Court also coordinates additional swearing-in ceremonies for applicants admitted on motion in coordination with the Board of Bar Examiners and State Bar of New Mexico. For more information about upcoming dates for swearing in ceremonies, please call 827-4860 or email nmsupremecourtclerk@nmcourts.gov.
